East Bedfordshire Chamber Choir (EBCC) is seeking a new Musical Director from January 2025.
The SATB choir was formed in 2013 and is comprised of experienced singers. The choir's aim is to provide high quality choral music to the local community, with a range of performance styles from renaissance and baroque to jazz, gospel and modern works. The choir currently performs three to four concerts per year. Recent performances have included works by Handel, Stanford, Esenvalds and Gjeilo.
Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings during term time at Providence Baptist Chapel, Blunham (between Sandy & Bedford). Choir members are auditioned, and many of whom regularly perform as soloists both with the choir and in the wider community. The choir generally performs with 16 singers.
Applicants should be enthusiastic, strong musicians and ideally have prior experience of directing a choir. The ability to conduct an orchestra will be required, as the choir frequently performs joint concerts with local orchestra Bedford Sinfonia. The musical director will be responsible for selecting the repertoire for future concerts and planning the rehearsal schedule. The successful applicant will be supported by a committee comprised of a secretary, librarian, treasurer and events co-ordinator.
The choir is accompanied by accomplished pianist David Della Valle.
